Gallery: We Had To Say Goodbye To Our Sweet Romeo
Romeo was our little surprise from Jesus. He was a gift from a lady named Beth who was a long time listener. About fifteen years ago Beth heard me talking on the radio about losing my dog Alex and with good intentions offered to gift me a brand new puppy. I hesitantly agreed to accept and so began my fourteen plus years with my sweet, feisty, full of personality little four legged boss man.
Sadly over the weekend we lost our little guy, Romeo. I named him that because he was such a little love bug. Anytime I was home, he was literally on me; on my lap, by my side, in my face. He was there for me when both parents passed away and also there for the countless happy days as well. When I’m sick on occasion he won’t leave my side even to eat, we would have to bring his food to him. He had such a sweet heart, especially for me and also such a strong will. He ruled the house. And now it sure feels empty.
He had developed various health issues, especially this past year. So many of my friends would say, ‘you will know when it’s time”. I for sure knew that he was nearing the end but was hoping up til the last minute that there was way to keep him longer. Without getting into too much detail, we discovered on Friday that medicating him or surgery just wasn’t an option. There was no getting well. It was time.
I’d like to share with you a celebration of his sweet little life. 14 years and three months flew by all too fast. I wish he could stay here forever but I’m grateful for Beth’s gift. He will always be in my heart and will always be part of our family. Forever.
