Petting A Dog Is Actually Good For Your Brain
A study published this week confirms something that you may have already known: Petting a dog is good for your brain.
The study compared brain activity in subjects who had contact with plush animals that look like dogs and real dogs. When petting a real dog, healthy brain activity was stimulated more than with the stuffed animals. Scientists believe the finding could help people who have issues with memory, attention or problem-solving.
Swiss doctoral student and lead author of the study Rahel Marti told CNN, “If patients with deficits in motivation, attention, and socioemotional functioning show higher emotional involvement in activities connected to a dog, then such activities could increase the chance of learning and of achieving therapeutic aims,”
And yes, I read these medical journals so you don’t have to.
