Gallery:Our ‘Happily Ever After’ Did Not Come In A Straight Line
This week my husband Rick and I are celebrating nineteen years of marriage on our eighth wedding anniversary. It is safe to say, our ‘happily ever after’ did not come in a straight line. That math just doesn’t add up, does it? That is because I count the years we were married the first time along with the years we have been married since we said “I do” for a second time.
We met as teenagers at a high school football game, just like so many country songs talk about. We fell in love, married right out of college and had two kids right away. I won’t get into the details but after eleven years of marriage, it all fell apart. The crazy thing is, those were a good eleven years! We were romantically very much apart for many many years but remained great friends and co parents.
Thanks to tons of prayer, some twists of fate and a deep abiding friendship; we found our way back to one another. God gave us what we had before and then multiplied it by about a hundred. Today we are a little older, a lot wiser, and infinitely smarter than we were the first time around.
Sometimes ‘happily every after’ does not come in a straight line. Sometimes it might go in circles, up and down and sometimes it might even break. As long as there is respect and kindness through it all there is ALWAYS a way back.If you want it. Here are a few pics from our journey along the way.
