North Carolina Fire Truck Involved In Deadly Accident
A motorcyclist was fatally injured after being struck by a Charlotte Fire truck Monday. It happened on Highway 51 near Pineville around 5:40 p.m.
CFD’s Ladder 24 was responding to a medical call when it was involved in the accident at McMahon Drive. According to Charlotte Fire Division Chief David Farnum Jr., crews began treating the motorcyclist immediately. The unidentified victim was transported by MEDIC but later died from injuries sustained in the crash.

The stretch of Highway 51 in front of Carmel Commons shopping center was shut down for several hours as police investigated the incident. Traffic was diverted at Johnston and Carmel Roads. Yellow police tape wrapped the entire intersection of Highway 51 and McMahon Drive.
Charlotte Mecklenburg Police are investigating the incident.
