North Carolina’s Own Greg Olsen Will Co-Host Super Bowl Coverage
A popular former Carolina Panther will be alongside Kevin Burkhardt as the broadcast analyst for the biggest football game of the year Sunday. “North Carolina’s Own” Greg Olsen will co-host Sunday’s Super Bowl coverage.
Although Greg is originally from New Jersey, his Carolina Panthers roots make this feel like a “local boy done good” story to us. He spent nine seasons wearing #88 as a tight end for the Panthers. He went to the Pro Bowl three times as a Panther and was on the 2015 team that went to the Super Bowl.
Olsen’s rise to the #1 NFL analyst spot has been quick. He has been working as an NFL analyst for just two years, but his connection with Burkhardt goes back many years.
As a young broadcaster at a small radio station in New Jersey, Burkhardt actually called some of Olsen’s high school football games at Wayne Hills High School. Burkhardt developed a relationship with Wayne Hills head coach Chris Olsen Sr., who, incidentally, is Greg Olsen’s father.
Now, with Tom Brady expected to join the Fox team in 2024, it puts Olsen’s future as the network’s No. 1 analyst into question (many folks presume Brady will automatically get the number one slot). I personally hope Brady is not any good at broadcasting.
Meanwhile, Burkhardt apparently doesn’t care for being asked about Olsen being bumped for Brady.
Burkhardt on what its like to call games with Olsen as Brady waits in the wings:

“The reality is other than being asked in every media interview that I have done, and I mean this on or off the record, I have not thought about Tom Brady as a broadcaster for 10 f***ing seconds."
Super Bowl LVII features the Kansas City Chiefs vs. the Philadelphia Eagles. Kickoff is 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
