This Already Thriving North Carolina Town Is Getting A Makeover
North Carolina State Flag flying in the wind at Fort Macon.
My husband and I went to dinner in Belmont, North Carolina recently and I was so happy to see what is happening there. We went to a steakhouse towards the end of the downtown area and every restaurant was bustling, every shop had people coming in and out and even Stowe park had families playing and enjoying themselves. This already thriving North Carolina town is getting a makeover.
Now, Belmont is going to be even more fabulous. The Downtown Belmont Development Association just received a $25,000 grant from the Duke Energy Foundation. The plan is to revitalize Belmont’s river district. To learn more about how they plan to use the funds check out the story in The Gaston Gazette right here.
Something I am super excited about is the new Cuban restaurant coming to Belmont. It will be located where White’s used to be. It’s called My Cuban Corner and here is what they have to say via Facebook about their new place,
My Cuban Corner is coming soon to

Hiking is one of the best ways to fire all the happy chemicals in your brain. Here is what you get from hiking. According to Google here are the benefits, As Daniel Levitin explains in his book, Successful Aging, hiking exercises the part of your brain designed to help you navigate through life—for example, the restrosplenial cortex and the hippocampus, which aids in memory, too—which is why hiking not only helps your heart, but helps your mind stay sharp, as well. Plus it is fun!
Our family hikes quite a bit and when I go with my kids I tell them; breathe deep, look around and enjoy every step. It increases the dopamine in your brain, you will sleep better and we have a no phones policy so the talks are nice.
