Some People Will Keep Twitter Blue Ticks Despite Not Paying
Despite most people losing their blue checks on Twitter, Elon Musk has elected to pay for a few accounts to remain verified. The Twitter owner confirmed the gesture after Stephen King, William Shatner, and LeBron James retained their verified status without subscribing to Twitter Blue.
The Guardian says, Musk removed blue ticks from 400,000 unverified accounts that didn’t sign up for Blue, which costs $8/month in the US, £9.60/month in the UK, and $13/month in Australia. Unverified names include Beyoncé, Ronaldo, Kim Kardashian, Sir Paul McCartney, JK Rowling, and Donald Trump.
Twitter has no more legacy verified accounts, down from 400,000 at the start of the month. Blue sign-ups are now around 630,000. Would you pay a monthly fee for social media? If so, which one would you pay for?
