You Can Help Name Charlotte’s New Street Sweeper
The City of Charlotte has purchased a new electric street sweeper and the public is invited to vote on its name.
It’s down to three finalists: Clearopathra, Sweep Caroline and Sweepy McSweepface.
If you’d like to have a say in what the city names the new machine, you can take part in the “Name The Bike Lane Sweeper Campaign.” The website is taking votes until Thursday, when the street sweeper’s new name will be announced at the Bike Charotte After Work Social. That event is 5:30-7:00 p.m. at Innovation Barn, 932 Seigle Ave, Charlotte, NC, 28202
Charlotte currently has around 4 miles of separated bike lanes, with plans to install approximately 12 additional miles in the next five years. Because separated bike lanes have horizontal and vertical barriers, they require special street sweepers. An ordinary street sweeper will not fit between the barriers.
