Our Top Three Best Places For River Tubing In North Carolina
If you are looking for a great way to cool off this summer, go river tubing! In case you have never heard of it, I looked it up. According to the dictionary, river tubing is “the leisure activity of riding on water on a large inflated inner tube”. This can also be done on the snow in winter. But we are trying to cool off here in the dog days of summer. Here is our top three best places for river tubing in North Carolina.
I wouldn’t say I am an expert, but I have been water tubing in North Carolina since I was a little girl. When I was in college at Western Carolina University, going tubing down the Tuckaseegee River was something we did every chance we got when the weather was hot. We would put in in one area with a car waiting at the end of our journey.
As an adult and particularly when our kids got old enough, my husband and I started choosing actual tubing outfits or companies to provide the tubes, life vests and transportation back from the put in point. This is so much fun. Helfpul hint, bring bungee cords with you so that the whole family can tie together. This will prevent you from getting separated. We also bring our own oars and life jackets. The oars will help guide you down the river or push out of situations you don’t want to be in. Here are our top three best places for river tubing in North Carolina.
We really love Green River Cove Tubing in Saluda, North Carolina. I will tell you right away this is not a lazy river. If you are looking for a little adventure, a little wildlife along the way and a little whitewater, this is your place. We have tubed with this company many times and have always had a blast. But if you are looking to roll along at a snail’s pace, check out my next suggestion.
Zen Tubing in Asheville, North Carolina is a more leisurely float. It has been voted the best river tubing in Asheville and will take you down the French Broad River. This is perfect especially for people who like their river floating at a slower pace. It is relaxing! And as the name suggests, it is very Zen.
For another calm float, you might want to try Lazy Otters Outfitters. Choose the four or seven mile route down the French Broad River. It’s located close to Hendersonville, Asheville or Brevard. These are our top three places for river tubing in North Carolina. The whole family can enjoy! For more suggestions, other than my own personal favorites, get details from Romantic Asheville right here.
Things to Bring: We like bringing our own life jackets and bungee cords to tie in together. Stay hydrated! Of course, you will need sunscreen. We bring our own oars as well. I promise you will have a blast but be sure and check out websites to make sure your tubing experience is the one you are looking for.
