I know most people look to summer as the travel season. However, my favorite time of year is Fall. And, sometimes that’s one of the most charming times of year to travel. So, where should you go? Well, Travel+Leisure published their list of the “10 Best Small Towns On The East Coast.” And, there’s one in South Carolina that actually made their list. But, it might not be the one you think.
Travel+Leisure gives a nod to Beaufort, South Carolina. Of course, sometimes more well-known spots like Hilton Head or Myrtle Beach get attention. But, Beaufort is a beautiful historic area that the publication points out offers plenty of sightseeing and yummy food choices. And, in browsing beaufortsc.org, I found information about Hunting Island State Park that boasts spots for picnics, seashell hunting and swimming. Also, the site points out numerous hiking trails, kayak tours and boat charters.
Plus, Beaufort, South Carolina is rich in Hollywood movie history. The area has served as the backdrop for films including Forrest Gump, The Big Chill and Platoon. And, visitors can also take guided tours of these iconic film settings in Beaufort.
And, when it comes to dining Saltus River Grill is the one I see mentioned frequently. It’s located in Beaufort South Carolina historic district. The website describes “an urban seafood grill offering exceptional fare, breathtaking waterfront views” and more. Well, it’s no surprise this area filled with charm made the list.
