Disney’s ‘Bambi’ Remake May Change Traumatizing Scene
If you are a purist, this won’t make you happy. Disney’s ‘Bambi Remake may change a traumatizing scene. This is the word coming out of Hollywood. So what is the scene and why take it out?
Looper.com says Bambi’s mother dying may be removed from the movie. Screenwriter Lindsey Anderson Beer said “There’s a treatment of the mom dying that I think some kids, some parents these days, are more sensitive about than they were in the past. And I think that’s one of the reasons that they haven’t shown it to their children.”
Rumor is Disney writers are looking at a way to work around the sad scene. They may still include it, but not when Bambi is so young.
I don’t understand why Disney and other Hollywood studios insist on changing classics. It is a very sad scene. But it is real life. How much more sheltering do we need to do for our children? How do we expect them to handle the real world, if we continue to show them a fantasy world where nothing bad happens?
Many generations have seen the Bambi original, and don’t seem scarred from it. So Disney’s ‘Bambi’ remake may change the traumatizing scene of this mother’s death. Disney, please leave the classic Bambi alone.
