The Carolinas Might Not Be The Best Place To Raise A Family
A recent report has stated that both North and South Carolina may not be the best place to raise a family. According to WCNC Charlotte, there are a lot of people moving to the Carolinas every single day. However, these individuals and those who have lived here for a long time may be shocked to find out that the Carolinas are a few of the worst rated states for raising children.
WalletHub recently released a report that rated the worst and the best places to raise a family in the United States. In this report the Carolinas were both near the bottom of the list. North Carolina came in 37th and South Carolina came in 42nd.
There were a lot of different factors that this report took into consideration. The main factors that determined this list are education, safety, housing, income, and health care. There were also some extra factors used to rank the states. This included crime rate, the amount of neighborhoods in the state living in poverty, the cost of childcare, and the average income families make. Both of the Carolinas scored near the middle of the list for all of these factors.
For individual factors, North Carolina had it’s highest score in the family fun category where it came in 23rd. The state also ranked 31st when it came to overall affordability. Sadly, South Carolinas ranking in the individual categories wasn’t very good. The state came in 41st place for the affordability. South Carolina did even worse in the education quality and child care categories where it ranked 47th in both.
