Major South Carolina Retail And Restaurant Development To Add Apartments And Shops
The popular major South Carolina retail restaurant development RedStone is set to add more with apartments, townhomes and stores. It is home to RedStone 14 theaters and many restaurants and businesses currently located on 521 in Indian Land, South Carolina.
The Carolinas seem to be growing by leaps and bounds lately. And, there’s no better example of that growth than Indian Land, South Carolina. In fact, just this week, we discussed the proposal to make Indian Land its own city to handle projected growth for the popular area. And now, a major South Carolina retail and restaurant development is adding apartments and shops.
According to a story in Charlotte Business Journal, project developer MPV plans to add two new tenants to popular RedStone on 521 in Indian Land. We already enjoy visiting RedStone quite a bit. It’s just down the street from where we live. And, it’s a hot spot for date nights. After all, there’s currently plenty of restaurants and the huge RedStone 14 movie theater in the booming development.
But, with the new additions, the already 70,000 square foot development would add 9600 more. MPV plans 350 apartments, 20 townhomes and another 24000 square feet of retail. They expect the second phase to be complete by 2026.
So, it’s already basically a one stop shop for dinner and a movie. We love popping into The Office Craft Bar and Kitchen and then catching a movie. The theater is right next door. And, recently, longtime tenant Red Rocks vacated their space on the other side of the theater. It’s now Aroma Indian Grill & Bar.
Other businesses in the RedStone hot spot include Margaritas Mexican, Portofino’s Italian, recently added Super Chix and so much more. There’s medical offices, a coffee and pastry shop, burger restaurant Freddy’s and plenty of others. And, last year a yoga and wellness studio joined the development. In picturing what the developer plans, I imagine something similar to what we see in the Fort Mill space Kingsley. It’s home to one of our favorite restaurants Spice Asian Kitchen, Epic Chophouse and lots more. Plus, that development includes apartments. And, I think that would be exciting.
However, it does make you wonder about the already congested 521 between Indian Land and Ballantyne where the development sits. But, I’m still looking forward to what the future holds as this major South Carolina retail and restaurant development adds more. See Charlotte Business Journal for more details. It’s amazing looking back in the video below at when phase one began, too.
This Charlotte Suburb In South Carolina Ranks #1 Nationwide For Livability
When you’re looking to purchase a home, looking outside the city limits and in the suburbs is the best option for many people. You can typically get more home for your money, more outdoor living space, in many cases better schools, and a slightly more family friendly way of life. This is certainly true in the Charlotte market. And new research from Today’s Homeowner that was shared with us, determined the top suburbs across the country. They looked a 580 suburbs surrounding the 78 largest cities in the country. And they determined that the top Charlotte suburb? It’s actually right across the border in South Carolina.
The rankings are based on housing affordability, inventory, job market and livability (climate risk, entertainment and dining, etc.) metrics. And the it was the Charlotte suburb of Fort Mill, SC that actually ranked as the second best suburb nationwide. Not only that but when it came to livability this city ranked in the top spot. Fort Mill was boosted not only for it’s livability score but it’s inventory aka the number of homes available. Taxes across the border are typically cheaper as well as gas. The downside to living in Fort Mill? The commute into uptown Charlotte during the workweek. Fort Mill wasn’t the only Charlotte suburb that was recognized positively in this study. Overall Charlotte ranked as having the second best suburbs. Only Nashville, a city who has seen similar growth in a similar time period as Charlotte.
