South Carolina Beach Gear Swap Helps Vacationers Pay It Forward
What happens when you bring that beach chair on vacation and don’t have room to haul it back home? This South Carolina beach gear swap helps vacationers in that situation pay it forward.
I think a South Carolina beach gear swap is a brilliant idea. According to The Sun News, the idea started out of a real need from a frequent vacationer at Myrtle Beach.
How This South Carolina Beach Gear Swap Started
Faith Heath, a West Virgina resident and frequent visitor to Myrtle Beach, found herself loading up the car with all the stuff we typically tote to the beach, including chairs, floats, boogie boards, etc.
And, as we all know, these items are bulky. So, with kids and grandkids in tow, the car is packed. Plus, the expense can’t be ignored. Therefore, you hate to leave it for trash and buy a new item next season.
Then, after noticing another beachgoer discarding chairs that just sat by the trash cans the whole day, an idea hit Heath.
Why not start a Facebook group for a South Carolina beach gear swap to help a community of folks in the same boat?
So, she started Myrtle Beach Visitors Pay It Forward about a year ago. And, currently there’s more than 3000 followers to the group.
I remember last year we travelled to Aruba for a vacation. And, on advice from our travel buddies, we took floats in our suitcase.
Of course, we waited to inflate them once we arrived. But, then when we started to leave, we didn’t want to take the time to deflate and repack them.
So, we started looking for people along the beach who wanted to claim them. And, surely enough we found takers who just arrived to start their trip.
After all, we had lots of folks ask where we got the floats, wishing they had planned ahead. So, it worked out for all of us.
