Luke Bryan Is A Talk Show Host
Luke Bryan appears to be tapping into something that has been needed for a long time. If there’s one thing that has consistently made me nuts over the years in country radio, it’s the reaction that a certain segment has to new music. Here’s what it sounds like, “That ain’t country!” Believe it or not, I can remember people complaining that Garth Brooks was too “rock and roll” when he came out. So, this complaint is nothing new. OMG…just stop it. And with Luke’s new show, hopefully it will.
“It’s All Country” on Hulu just dropped a trailer and I’m all in. “It’s All Country” is a six-part documentary hosted by everyone’s favorite American Idol judge. In it, Luke interviews a very eclectic collection of country stars-past and present. In the trailer we see conversation with the likes of Mickey Guyton, Kane Brown, Wynonna Judd, Sheryl Crow, Shaboozey, Lady A, and Luke Combs. You don’t get a bigger variety of folks in country than that.
My hope is that everyone will see that from Wynonna to Shaboozy…it is indeed all country. Their commonality in background and process is far more similar than different. Not only that, but I’m very intrigued to see the segment with Wynonna (talking about her mother, Naomi’s passing) and Lady A (substance abuse). Perhaps, we’ll get some candor and insight that we never have before. The docuseries is produced by both Luke Bryan and Peyton Manning (my GAWD he’s everywhere!). Hulu will stream “It’s All Country” on November 15 to prepare you for the CMA Awards on ABC on November 20.
