Squirrel!
It’s a great running joke.
You talk about having a conversation or meeting with someone who has a short attention span and in mid-sentence, as they are attempting to pay attention to you, all-of-the-sudden, they yell and point “Squirrel.”
It illustrates how easily distracted we can be by the simplest things.
One group of people who get blamed for getting easily distracted by the smallest of sounds, movements of people, etc. are golfers.
David Feherty of The Golf Channel once said that World Golf Hall of Fame member, Colin Montgomerie could “hear a butterfly fart at 1000 feet.”
Anyway, the worlds of “squirrel” jokes and easily bothered golfers came together this weekend at a pro tournament in Connecticut with one of the best in the world, Rory McIlroy on the tee box.
