Why The Queen Left Her King
It was as close to a royal break up as I guess our country gets. Elvis Presley, “The King of Rock and Roll,” and his wife Priscilla splitting after six years of marriage (and one child) in 1972.
Of course SHE left HIM, this fact has never been in question. What has been left to speculation is the reason(s) why.
Well, in a recent interview with British, “Loose Women,” Presley revealed (at last) why she left Elvis-and it’s completely understandable.
Priscilla recounted how being with the most popular and recognizable in the world at the time was hard. This is a common complaint of spouses of the famous. She went on to say how she was not fond of “sharing Elvis with the world.”
I think we forget how young she really was. Priscilla met Elvis at the age of 14, married him at 21 and divorced him at the age of 27.
“I did not divorce him because I didn’t love him… he was the love of my life, truly. If anything, I left because I needed to find out what the world was like,” Priscilla hated they were unable to go out. Also, as a young woman she felt trapped in living his life and doing only things he wanted to do.
Kinda makes you wonder. Once they grew older…matured…perhaps they could have reconciled?
