Patrick Swayze Tearjerking Tribute
I dated a girl for three years in high school. She was great. And we were each other’s best friend. In the summer of 1987, she was getting ready to leave for college and I was preparing for my senior year.
I had just returned from playing basketball in Italy for a month and we went out on what would be one of our final dates together (the relationship didn’t last college/high school divide…no worries, we’re great friends to this day). We went to see “Dirty Dancing” and I always think of Rachel when I hear the refrain, “I’ve had the time of my life…and I owe it all to you.”
Of course the star of that movie was Patrick Swayze. It made him a superstar. He had a really cool acting career filled with movies women loved (“Ghost,” “North and South” mini series), and men did too (“Roadhouse,” “Point Break.”
Patrick Swayze was taken from us far too soon, in 2009, at the age of 57, from cancer. Wow…it’s been 10 years? Anyway, I’m looking forward to this documentary on the Paramount Network, August 18th. The list of stars paying tribute is really impressive.
Kinda gives you the idea that he was too.
