Double Tragedy In TV “Tarzan’s” Home
When we moved into the “house that built me” when I was three, one of the first things I did was make my dad put a rope swing in the tree next to my swingset. This was so I could pretend I was “Tarzan” swinging through the jungle.
Well, it depended on the day. Some days I was “Batman,” others I was “Tarzan.”
Anyway, I not only was obsesses with the old “Tarzan” movies but with this TV show that by the time I was old enough to see, was in daily reruns.
Anyway, the star of the show was Ron Ely. He was, of course a hero of mine. Well, Ron Ely is no longer swinging through trees at age 81, and is dealing with a horrific, double tragedy today.
Details are a little sketchy now, but Santa Barbara County Coroner’s investigators have removed 2 bodies from the Ely home: Ely’s wife Valeries and the male suspect who was shot by responding deputies. The suspect is believed to be Ely and Valerie’s 30-year-old son, Cameron.
The facts of the incident have not been made public, but whatever they are…it is a horribly sad time for the “Lord of the Jungle.”
