Next Beverly Hills Cop Coming To Netflix
This is potentially the next, big, game-changing moment in the way we consume movies.
Here’s what we know.
-Currently, Eddie Murphy is wrapping production on the sequel to his 80s hit, “Coming To America.”
-He’s receiving rave reviews and Oscar Buzz for “Dolemite is My Name,” a movie financed by and available on Netflix. It is able to be consider for an Oscar as it was “briefly” released to theaters.
-Also, Murphy is set to make his return to standup comedy with a special on Netflix.
Which now leads to this. The movie that made Eddie Murphy a star was “Beverly Hills Cop.” “Beverly Hills Cop 2” was also great. “Beverly Hills Cop 3” was a disaster.
Now, Netflix Making a Fourth “Beverly Hills Cop”
This means, potentially, you could have a sequel to one of the biggest movies of all time that will never see the light of day in a movie theater.
It’s not going to surprise me if we see this more and more. In fact, it’s not going to surprise me if I live to see the day that movie theaters go the way of the Eastland Malls of the world, and begin to disappear.
That will be sad.
As much as I like the convenience of being able to watch “On Demand” at my home, there’s something about the communal experience of seeing a movie in a theater-especially a comedy-that cannot be duplicated at the house.
