“Captain Kirk” Finally Experiences “The Final Frontier”
“Space…the final frontier.” These four words were spoken by William Shatner at the beginning of every episode of “Star Trek.” Shatner, of course, will forever be identified with the character of “Capt. James T. Kirk” of that show’s “Starship Enterprise.” Of course, that’s just fiction. In reality, Mr. Shatner never ventured past your standard Delta Airlines flight…until yesterday.
At age 90, Shatner took a ride into orbit on Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin rocket. He is now the oldest person ever to be in space. The flight lasted 10 minutes round-trip. Upon his return Shatner said, “Everybody in the world needs to do this.” I don’t know about that, but I am glad for him. If anyone deserved to go to space, it’s Captain Kirk.
