Disney Park Bans Vlogging
We live in a world of constant social media posts, streams, blogs and “vlogs.” The bombardment becomes overwhelming at times. I get the irony…as you read this on a blog. While information and cute videos can be educational and fun in small doses, sometimes it’s nice to unplug. Tokyo Disney Resort initiated a new policy this week to aid in that process. The policy bans commercial filming, auxiliary equipment and public transmission or recording of any kind that may inconvenience other guests. The resort already bans filming on rides at Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, which is one of the strictest Disney Parks policies in the world.
Many fans applaud the new policy. They say they tire of vloggers disrupting the experience for normal guests just trying to enjoy a day with the family. Guests say content creators often film park visitors and provide commentary throughout the rides all for the sake of content. Disney visitors call the practice annoying and rude. Disney World in Orlando prohibits photography, videotaping or recording of any kind for unapproved commercial purposes. And remember to leave the selfie stick at home. Just enjoy the magic and cherish those family memories!
