Surprising New Use For Former Greenville South Carolina Strip Club
We lived in Greenville, South Carolina for a bit, but I was not familiar with Platinum Plus Strip Club. The club opened in the year 2000. Apparently, the establishment has a storied history of run-ins with law enforcement. Problems ranged from three homicide investigations to thousands of 911 calls and citations for serving underage drinkers, and dancers charged with prostitution. Authorities shut down the business in 2015 and it opened again in 2017 as Bucks, Racks and Ribs. After battling with the county over possible violations of sexually oriented business laws, Bucks “home of nice racks” closed as well. However, church leader Rich Butler and his wife walked into the former strip club and saw potential and opportunity for redemption. Amid the poles, the stage and loudly colored decor, they imagined a perfect location for their church. Leaders of Hope Church needed a permanent location. Butler says visibility from Interstate 385, plenty of parking and the size of the space make it a good fit.
And here’s a peek into previous problems the business faced.
As for the former business, Butler says it doesn’t deter him at all. He says “This is a story God would write.”
