Gaston County Man Won Two Million Dollar Prize
A Gaston County man won $2 million Friday night after scratching a Mega 7’s ticket in the North Carolina Lottery. It all started when Joshua King and his son decided to stop on South Hope Road to buy a few snacks. And, since King had luck on the Mega 7’s ticket in the past, he chose to buy another ticket for $20. He says his last win with that particular game was $200. As it turns out, this ticket proved much more profitable. The father and son grabbed some restaurant take-out and headed home to watch a movie. While he and his son watched Halloween, he scratched the ticket to find the big win. The reaction from all involved is just as you might imagine. When the Gaston County man realized he won, there was laughter and tears along with hyperventilating. King wasted no time claiming the jackpot. He visited the lottery headquarters Monday and took a lump sum of $1.2 million. That equates to more than $850,000 after taxes. King says he plans to help take care of his family and possibly buy some property. The Mega 7’s ticket King played debuted four new $2 million prizes this month. The North Carolina Lottery raises on average more than $2.5 million a day for education from sales of scratch off tickets. Take a look back three years ago when Charles Jackson of North Carolina took home his Powerball Jackpot.
That’s definitely life-changing money. It’s the stuff most people only dream about. But, sometimes, those dreams come true!
