We Tried Goat Yoga At A North Carolina Brewery And Here’s What Happened
Why I Wanted To Do Goat Yoga
I don’t consider myself a risk taker at all. The last time I took what I considered a risk it didn’t go well. I fell off a jet ski into the Inter Coastal Waterway at Myrtle Beach. So, luckily Goat Yoga is really more of an adventure than a risk. And, I wanted to try it ever since I saw Trisha Yearwood do it on her cooking show. My co-worker friend and I decided we’d give goat yoga in North Carolina a try.
What Is Goat Yoga?
So, you may be asking yourself, “What is Goat Yoga?” I was in the same boat until I saw it in action. Organizations do this all around the country at various locations. A lot of the events take place at breweries. Our session was at one of Charlotte’s newest breweries, “Monday Night Brewing” on Tryon. That way, customers can grab a drink, experience some “zen,” and it’s a win-win. Smallish goats come to the yoga site and mingle amongst the yoga participants. And, sometimes they even jump on your back! And yes, a furry little friend took up residence on my back when I was in whatever kind of table pose or the like. Hey, I’m no yoga expert. I was there for the goats!
What Can You Expect From Goat Yoga?
And, that leads to our next topic. What can you expect from Goat Yoga? Be ready to be up close and personal with the goat friends. They aren’t shy. The cuties let you pet them. They jump on your back. And, the obvious issue arises of occasional poop and pee accidents. So, be prepared. The folks at “Zen Hooves” conducting our session brought plenty of anti bacterial wipes. And, they kept the area swept and the goats fed.
Who Can Do Goat Yoga?
So, who can do Goat Yoga? Is it only for the experienced yoga jedis? Absolutely not. We did some basic simple moves. But, when the opportunity came up to cuddle a goat, they encouraged it. And, I’ll warn you that goat selfies proved difficult. But, we got some adorable videos and pictures. Plus, we laughed a lot. There was time afterward for us to pick up the goats and pose for pictures. And, we even got a drink ticket to redeem inside. So, according to the Zen Hooves site, everyone 8 and up can take part. Kids under 14 need adults with them in the pen, though.
Where To Find Goat Yoga
Now, where do you find Goat Yoga? I included a link above to the Zen Hooves site so you can see their calendar. However, Goat Yoga takes place all over conducted by many folks. Or, just check your favorite brewery to see if they have any sessions on their calendar of events. We arrived early enough to grab a glass of wine and a pizza. So, we had a blast, and I highly recommend it!
