Suspect Still On The Loose Following Sexual Assault At This North Carolina Greenway
It’s a place you go for peace and quiet. You may be there for exercise or just to get some fresh air. One woman left this parcel of woods, I imagine, a changed person. A suspect is still on the loose following a sexual assault at this North Carolina Greenway.
It reportedly took place at McAlpine Creek Greenway in Charlotte, North Carolina on July 22. According to Channel 9 in Charlotte a man approached her, exposed himself and then touched her inappropriately. According to the television station, the Charlotte Mecklenburg police department said they responded to Johnston Road after a woman was approached and grabbed.
This attack was not the first one. It comes ten months after a similar attack at that greenway. After Saturday’s attack the suspect reportedly ran towards Pikes Nurseries which is near there. He is described as a black male, 6’1 wearing a Kentucky Wildcats hooded sweatshirt.
If you have any information about the suspect, law enforcement authorities ask that you call 911. You can also call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. To learn more about this story, check out details from our source Channel 9 in Charlotte.
Here are some tips on how to help keep yourself safe on greenways. Do not hike or run alone if you can help it. Do not use headphones. Be aware of your surroundings. Keep your head “on a swivel”. For more a comprehensive list of suggestions, get more information right here.
