House Beautiful took the time to scour the country for something out of the ordinary. The publication has determined the weirdest buildings in North Carolina and South Carolina. Actually they found the weirdest buildings in every state in the country.
I looked up the word “weird” in the dictionary and here is what it says. Weird means “something uncanny, very strange or bizarre”. With that in mind, lets take a look at what they considered the weirdest buildings in North Carolina and South Carolina.
I was surprised at their choice of weird in North Carolina. House Beautiful considers The Biltmore Mansion in Asheville as the weirdest. I would describe the 250 room country home of George Vanderbilt as grand. Amazing, gorgeous and historical are accurate descriptions as well. There are parts that are weird. Take the Halloween room in the basement. It was painted by party guests with a Halloween theme. And some of that looks kind of weird to me.
In South Carolina they chose a building in Charleston as the weirdest building. It is the Calhoun Mansion built in 1876. The mansion boasts 35 rooms and is full of oddities and antiquities. It is now known as the Williams Mansion. You can buy tickets and tour the place. I have been here and it is worth a visit.

Biltmore Estate Is The Most Pet-Friendly Attraction In North Carolina
Do you love traveling with your pet? It can be hard to leave them at home but knowing where you can vacation and bring them along can also be a challenge. If you’re looking for a pet-friendly attraction then look no further. According to GoPetFriendly Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC is the most pet-friendly attraction in North Carolina. I was actually just at Biltmore this past weekend and I can confirm there were lots and lots of dogs on the property. And considering the estate is 8,000 acres that’s a lot of space for your furry friends.
When you think of Biltmore your mind, understandably, goes to the lavish 250 room home. It’s “America’s Largest Home” but the mansion which opened on Christmas Eve in 1985 is just part of the attraction of the estate. A little later on I’ll tell you about many of the other activities which are perfect to bring along your trusted companion. There are references to Vanderbilt dogs all over the property, one, in particular, is Cedric at St. Bernard. Cedric even has a restaurant named after him (and it’s one I highly recommend!)
