South Carolina Layoffs Coming For Hundreds By End Of The Year
There’s never a good time to learn of job loss. However, it’s particularly rough when it coincides with holidays. And, hundreds of South Carolina workers face layoffs by the end of the year. According to WSPA, the layoffs are a result of several manufacturing companies closing facilities in the Upstate of South Carolina.
And, among them is Timken in Cherokee County. Although, reports indicate a good number of their employees already transferred to other facility locations. Also, Proterra plans a closing of its Greenville County operations. And, this impacts around 300 employees.
But, there could be good news for those workers if a new company acquires the Greenville County location. And, SC Works offers free services to help displaced employees with benefit filing, job searches, interviewing help and more.
From their website, Timken, an engineering leader specializes in drives, automatic lubrication systems, linear motion products, chains, belts, brakes and more. And, Proterra is an industry leader in electric transit vehicle solutions from battery technology to charging infrastructure, drivetrains and more. They also have facilities in Silicon Valley and Los Angeles.

These 5 South Carolina Companies Are Among The Nations Most Trustworthy
It’s wonderful to have thriving, successful companies in your state. These companies provide jobs and a boost to the local economies of the cities they call home. But it’s also important to have reputable and trustworthy companies. That’s why the folks at Newsweek, in collaboration with market research company Statista, created their second annual list of the Most Trustworthy Companies In America. The 2023 list includes 700 U.S. Companies across 23 different industries. This is based on evaluations by U.S. customers, employees, and investors all of whom are necessary for businesses to gain the trust of. And of those 700 companies, there are 5 South Carolina companies named as the most trustworthy.
Each of these is located in a different city including North Charleston, Greenville, Spartanburg, Hartsville, and Rock Hill. The 700 companies on this list came from a pool of 3,100. Does it matter to you if a company is trustworthy? For me personally, it is more important as a potential employee than as a consumer. In the latter scenario, I’m more apt to buy what fills my need at the right price. Though I know many many individuals to whom it makes a big difference.
