Charlotte’s first Whataburger is one step closer to actually being here. And here’s what we know so far. Another step has been approved to get the Texas based franchise here in Charlotte, North Carolina. I know a lot of happy Texans.
How Soon Will It Get Here
On Friday March 22 Charlotte city zoning officials approved the chain’s Land Development Construction Plan according to the charlotteobserver.com. That means a drive through Whataburger at the Clear Creek Crossings development as 12809 Albemarle Road could be serving up those delicious burgers and fries in no time.
A Publix Grocery Store is expected to anchor that development. There is no definitive timeline for completion of the projects. Whataburger is going through the regulatory process to open a restaurant in Anderson, South Carolina.
Here’s What The Officials Say
Here’s what Victor Trevino told Charlotte Five, “We don’t have any details to share at this time. But we’ll be in touch soon”. Whataburger is expanding y’all. The name Whataburger has been tossed around for a couple of years now. Back in 2022, the Charlotte Observer reported that a permit for a Whataburger was also filed with the city for a location on South Boulevard in Charlotte.
More Are Coming To North Carolina and South Carolina
Several Whataburger locations are in the works across North Carolina and South Carolina. And Charlotte’s first Whataburger is one step closer. So what is so special about Whataburger. Being from North Carolina most of my life I wouldn’t know. There are more than 900 Whataburger restaurants nationwide and close to 700 of those are in Texas. Don’t tell the Lone Star state but I have never been there.
I do have good friends from Texas that work here at the radio station. My buddies and co workers swear by Whataburger. Especially an item on the menu they love called a “Taquito”. Can’t wait to try it. But we will have to wait to get one in the Queen City. The great news is Charlotte’s first Whataburger is one step closer.
Here's Where To Find 6 Of The Cheapest Burgers In Charlotte
There’s a lot of talk lately about the rising cost of everything. And, that includes groceries, dining out and even fast food burgers. Of course, there’s one chain in particular that caused a stir when a social media post of the receipt went viral. And, that receipt showed a burger, small fry and a drink rang in at over $24. So, that leaves us all in search of more reasonable prices. And, it led me to start checking around for the cheapest burgers in Charlotte and surrounding areas.
And, in doing my informal research, I merely did a quick preliminary search online for ‘cheapest burgers in Charlotte.’ Then, I simply checked the menu of the suggestions online to find the cost of a basic burger at each location. So, that’s about as easy as it gets. And, let’s face it, most of the time when we grab a fast food or drive thru burger it’s an impulse purchase rather than one we bargain shop for. Usually, we’re on the go or running errands. Or, we know we won’t have time to cook. So, it’s an easy meal for a single or the family in some cases.
And, it used to be an economical one. I mean, we know quick on-the-go-burgers aren’t always the healthiest option. So, the selling point was always convenience and price point. However, increasingly, that’s no longer the case. Owners of these franchises point out rising labor and ingredients cost as contributing factors to the problem.
But, I still enjoy a good burger. Although, I do take a beat now before carelessly just pulling up to a window to order from a menu board. Gone are the days my husband and I could grab a fast food burger for $10, or the change in our car pocket. So without further adieu, let’s look at some of the cheapest burgers in Charlotte. These prices are current as of March 10, 2024 and in no particular order. I did not include large national scale franchise drive thrus.
