More Than 80 North Carolina High School Students Barred From Graduation After Senior Prank

There has been a line crossed. Somewhere along the way, we as parents have really failed. The word “prank” somehow became synonymous in the minds of our kids with the word “crime.” And it’s happened on our watch. More than 80 students from Williams High School in Alamance-Burlington school system have now been barred from graduation after their “senior prank.” Honestly, they will be lucky not to wind up behind bars.
The extent of this damage is stunning. And it is strangely widespread. I could understand anger like this being directed at one school or administration. I would never condone it, but after what these kids have gone through since 2020, I’d get it. However, there was vandalism reported at not just Walter Williams High School, but Western, Eastern, Southern, Cummings and Graham high schools.
Apparently, the students gained access to the schools through the gym and in one instance, the roof. Among the egregious and heinous acts perpetrated, eight toilets and six urinals filled with concrete.
Total damage: $4000. According to WXII News 12, seven students have been charged. 86 students were involved altogether, and 82 of those students were seniors and will not be participating in graduation because of this senior “prank.”
