South Carolina Employer Makes Forbes’ Best Employers For 2023 List

It’s what we all hope for.  We want to work for an employer who not only compensates us fairly, but provides a positive situation.  And apparently, one particular South Carolina employer ranked among Forbes’ list of “America’s Best Employers By State for 2023.”  They based their list on a sample of around 70,000 people employed by companies with more than 500 workers in the country.

And, Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina landed at number 23 on Forbes’ list.  According to WPDE, the university was one of three universities in the state to make the list.  Some of the things asked of those taking the survey included whether they recommend the employer to family and friends.  The survey also asked workers to rate their job on things such as compensation and working conditions.  In acknowledging the honor, a CCU spokesperson said, “CCU cares for its people.”  

With more than 1400 full time employees, the South Carolina employer offers half day Fridays schedules and remote work with flexible hours.  Also, Clemson University and University of South Carolina landed on the list when it comes to universities in the state.

Our son is a senior at Coastal Carolina University.  And, in our experience over the past few years I find professors and staff at the university to be pleasant, efficient and easy to work with.  Typically, when employees are happy in their situation it shows in their attitude and willingness to go the extra mile for customers.  And, that’s how the university employees present themselves to us.  So, kudos to the folks at the top creating that vibe for satisfied staff.

In North Carolina, Atrium Health, Bank of America and Belk in Charlotte were just a few employers who made Forbes’ list for the Tar Heel State.  See Forbes’ full list for best employers in each state to see if yours made it!

The Top 20 Companies for Remote Jobs in North Carolina In 2023

Working remotely is growing exponentially in popularity and opportunities. While it’s not for me, at least not 100% of the time, many many people are fans. In fact, I know several people who would never consider an office job anymore. And for a lot of people, the new year can mean looking for a new job. If that sounds like you then you’ll want to be aware of the companies hiring most work-at-home employees. If you’re in North Carolina and in the market for a remote job, FlexJobs has released its 10th annual “Top 100 Companies to Watch for Remote Jobs” list.

In the study, they note that between 2021 and 2022, “FlexJobs saw a 20% increase in the number of remote job listings on the site, compared with just 12% the previous year. And with the wider adoption of remote work came more variety in job titles and career levels. While a majority of positions were for experienced-level jobs (62%), manager and senior-level roles claimed 32% of the remote job listings. The remaining 6% of postings were attributed to entry-level jobs.”

So, which companies are hiring the most at-home workers right now? Below you’ll find the top 20 companies for remote jobs. While some are household names, others do more of the behind-the-scenes work.   • 20. Thermo Fisher Scientific

    According To Flexjobs, “Thermo Fisher Scientific is a global biotechnology product development company whose mission is to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. Past opportunities have been posted in career areas like account management, call center, and customer service, and the company has often sought bilingual professionals for these roles. “

    According to Flexjobs, “Activus Connect provides SmartVirtual technology and outsourced customer experience (CX) solutions to support and elevate phone, email, chat, text, video, and social experiences. As an employer, Activus Connect is Great Place to Work-certified and employs “remote-based ambassadors” who strive to change lives by deriving “authentic, heartfelt experiences.” In the past, the company has posted full-time, 100% remote jobs in call center, customer service, computer & IT, HR & recruiting operations, and other career areas.”

  • 16. LLH- Lee Hecht Harrison

    Flexjobs writes, “LHH – Lee Hecht Harrison is a management consulting company working to help organizations “see the possibilities in their people.” As an employer, LHH values supporting flexible work arrangements for its team members and has posted both employment and freelance jobs with part-time or full-time scheduling and 100% or hybrid remote availability, depending on the position. Flexible career opportunities in the past have included openings in categories like HR & recruiting, marketing, consulting, writing, internet & ecommerce, and more. “

    FlexJobs says, “Kforce is a professional solutions firm that builds and manages elite teams within technology, finance, and accounting with top employers nationwide. These jobs have been posted in the HR & recruiting industry and other fields for candidates with role-related skills, experience, and training.”

    The employer description by Flexjobs says, “Transcom offers customer care, technical support, sales, and credit management services. As an employer, the company leads a team of around 30,000 people and offers a competitive salary and benefits package to eligible associates. Furthermore, Transcom promotes a healthy work-life balance and provides benefits that enable staffers to grow careers “while working from the comfort and convenience” of their own homes.”

    Flexjobs writes, “TranscribeMe!, founded in 2011, is a leading information technology and services company specializing in worldwide translation services. An advocate for flexible work arrangements, TranscribeMe! offers “100% remote positions” and seeks “workers who are willing to learn and grow” with the company. Operating as “a 24/7 company,” it values “workers in all time zones” available “all hours of the day” and employs individuals internationally.”

    The Flexjobs description says that Robert Half International is the preeminent global professional staffing and consulting firm. As an employer, Robert Half has been recognized among FlexJobs’ 100 Top Companies With Remote Jobs, distinguished by the Human Rights Campaign as one of the Best Places to Work, and ranked as one of the 50 Happiest Companies in America by CareerBliss. As an employer, TTEC offers careers with opportunities for professional development and career growth.”

  • 2. Working Solutions

    Working Solutions takes the Silver! Their description on Flexjobs states that, “Working Solutions is a provider of on-demand sales and customer service agents who work from home. An “on-demand workforce expert,” the company believes that flexible work arrangements translate to decreased overhead expenses, “a borderless recruiting pool,” and more focused and productive team members.”

  • 1. Liveops

    And the best company for remote jobs is Liveops! Liveops is a virtual call center offering on-demand virtual agents for enterprise sales and customer service needs. Fully remote, hybrid, and freelance opportunities at Liveops provide “unparalleled flexibility and work-life balance.” per Flexjobs.
