North Carolina Native Son To Pitch In World Series
I remember the first time I saw someone I competed with in sports growing up do his thing on a college and professional stage. In a way, it was almost as if I was getting to do it. There’s a sense of joy and pride for that person that you feel that’s kind of indescribable. There’s gonna be a number of folks in Holly Springs, North Carolina that are going to get that same vibe during the World Series when New York Yankees pitcher, Carlos Rodon takes the mound for the Bronx Bombers against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
To say Rodon has been a winner his whole life is not an overstatement. He led Holly Springs High School win its only state championship in 2011. In 2013, Carlos Rodon helped NC State reach their first College World Series in nearly 50 years. And when the Yankees take the field in game 2 of the World Series this weekend, Rodon, a two-time major league all-star will be on the pitcher’s mound.
Rod Whitesell coached Carlos Rodon at Holly Springs High School. He’s quoted by ABC 11, “You always knew he had a chance to be special from the first time you saw him. Everyone’s just excited about seeing a local kid do well and be in the spotlight,”
Game Two of the World Series is slated for tomorrow night (10/26) at 8 on Fox.
