Charlotte Mom’s Persistence Pays Off With Lottery Win
I preface this with saying, that there’s no one way to win lottery jackpots. I’ve written about people who had Chinese food the night before, saw the numbers on the back of his/her fortune cookies, thought, “Why not?!’ then bought a ticket and won. I wrote just last week about a man who found a twenty-dollar bill in a parking lot, went in, bought a scratch-off ticket and won. And now, we have someone with a more measured and deliberate approach to financial windfall.
Charlotte’s Kimberly Campbell is a regular player. And by regular, I mean she plays the North Carolina Education Lottery’s “Cash 5” game almost every day. People who do this go by the theory of, “If I play the same numbers consistently, then eventually mine are going to be the ones.” It’s hard to argue Campbell’s method after last Saturday.
Kimberly Campbell defied the odds of matching numbers on all five balls (1 in 962,598) and her ship came in to the tune of $100,000. According to the North Carolina Education Lottery website, Kimberly claims, “For the first 24 hours after I found out I was floating on a cloud.”
I imagine the added ballast of $71,501 after taxes brought her feet back to Earth. <g> Kimberly Campbell plans to use the money for a down payment on a house.
