North Carolina Politician Charged With Hit And Run
Of all the traffic violations and incidents that I can accept and excuse as human error, there are two I cannot. The first is any idiot that passes a stopped school bus. There is no reason to ever consider doing this and zero explanation that is acceptable. Anyone who purposefully puts kids at risk? The second traffic violation that cannot be rationally explained is hit and run. Anyone charged with this has essentially been involved in an incident where he/she hit something/someone with his/her vehicle and then said, “Oh, the law doesn’t apply to me. I’ll just take off. No one will know or catch me. To the person or property I’ve damaged? You’re on your own.” Which leads me to North Carolina State Auditor Beth Wood.
Wood, a Democrat, has served as the state’s auditor since 2009. The incident in question occurred in December and Beth Wood is due in a Wake County Courtroom a week from today (January 26th). Although Wood and her office have not provided comment, according to Axios/Raleigh, Wake County District Attorney Lorrin Freeman confirmed that the charges include a Class 2 misdemeanor for hit and run, leaving the scene and property damage, along with an infraction for unsafe movement.
Of course, the irony here is clear, and can be seen in the Instagram screenshot above. As the state’s auditor, Beth Wood serves as a “watchdog.” So, who’s watching her? Apparently, in her mind, no one. The only question that remains for me is will she be treated like the rest of us or as a Democratic state official, under a Democratic Governor, will this just…go away. You know, as if no one saw it…no one will know.
True Crime Stories Out Of North & South Carolina
People are fascinated by true crime. There are countless podcasts, articles, documentaries, and even TikTok videos on the subject. Perhaps it’s the mystery or the relatability to the victims. But whatever it is it is undeniable the prevalence it has in today’s society. And while we (at least I), would like to think these things only happen far away, that’s just not true. In fact, there are multiple instances of true crime stories from North and South Carolina.
Below you will find just a small subset of some of the most famous cases in the Carolinas. Some are extremely recent, others from years ago. Some have been resolved others still have us asking questions. You can find a wealth of information involving these cases online and I’ve referenced documentaries you can watch to learn more as well. As someone who isn’t close to obsessed with the genre, I still went deep down the rabbit hole with some of these cases.
Know of some we missed? Let us know on social media and maybe we will do part two of true crime cases from North and South Carolina.
