Iredell County North Carolina Woman Wins Million Dollar Scratch Off
We all dream of the day we fall into an unexpected pile of cash. And, it happened to an Iredell County, North Carolina woman recently. According to WCCB, Jo Anne Brown from Harmony purchased a $10 scratch off that instantly turned into a million dollar prize. After selecting the “Jumbo Bucks” ticket last Thursday, Brown scratched away in Fast Phil’s convenience store. The prize was available as an annuity paid over 20 years. However, Brown decided to take the lump sum payment of $600,000. So, after taxes, the lucky winner walks away with just over $427,000. Brown indicated the money would go to retirement and maybe a pond where their family could enjoy fishing.
Of course, there’s no way to accurately predict which scratch off tickets have better odds of bigger prize payouts. But, typically scratchers come to retailers on large rolls. And, the rolls all have a number of guaranteed prizes both big and small. And, often times if the particular type of ticket has been on the market for a while the biggest prize may have already been discovered by someone else. According to liveabout.com, lottery sites indicate which prizes for tickets are still out there for the winning. So, perhaps with a little research and a lot of luck you might end up like this lucky Iredell County, North Carolina woman. Although, as we all know the odds aren’t in our favor. But, as long as you play responsibly an occasional scratcher can be fun. In fact, I have one in my glove box I need to claim. It’s a whopping $10 prize. Don’t be jealous!
