My Favorite Childhood Donut Shop Is Coming To Spartanburg
I have a lot of food weaknesses. Near the top? Donuts. I love them. All of them. Always have. In terms of franchise donuts, there may not be anything in the world better than a hot Krispy Kreme glazed. I know, right? The last four words of that sentence make your mouth water to read. Although Krispy Kreme is now in my home state of Texas (everywhere, in fact), the donut shop of my youth was Shipley’s Donuts. And now, they are getting closer and closer to me as Shipley’s is coming soon to Spartanburg, South Carolina.
I realize you’re probably not going to believe this next statement, but you must trust me. A hot Shipley’s glazed donut is every bit as amazing as its counterpart with Krispy Kreme. And I will rank Shipley’s cinnamon rolls, twists, and especially their apple fritters ahead of ANY other donut shop.

Shipley’s Donuts coming to Spartanburg marks the second location in the state (the other is in Greenwood). Spartanburg native Clint Larkins owns both. According to the Spartanburge Herald-Journal, Larkins is trying to get the donuts better known across the Palmetto State. “Shipley has several hundred locations overall, but they’re based in Texas. We picked Spartanburg because I’m from here and my wife is from Duncan and so it’s a home game for us. We were building a hotel outside of Nashville, and my dad would go there [Shipley] to get donuts for the guys. We thought it would sit well in South Carolina and that it would be a good fit.”
Dear Mr. Larkins, Shipley’s Donuts would be a good fit in Indian Land, South Carolina, too. Just sayin’. Signed a little boy from Texas who knows. The new Spartanburg location is opening soon at 1631 John B. White Sr. Blvd.
6 Myrtle Beach South Carolina Restaurants We Consider Must Visit Spots
We make at least two visits to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina every year. And, as you might imagine, we spend a good bit of our time looking for the best places to grab a bite. In fact, we just returned from our annual winter trip. And, since it’s too cold for the sand, eating takes an even more important role! So, I figured a list of Myrtle Beach South Carolina restaurants we consider must visit spots would be a welcome guide for your next trip. Obviously, the area has so many places loved by many visitors. Visit Myrtle Beach says more than 19 million people visit the area annually. And, the region is home to more than 1800 full service dining options. However, the list I put together are the ones that we not only truly enjoy, they are those we feel we must visit every time. In fact, if we don’t eat at these each time we go to the beach, we feel we missed something. Some of these are Myrtle Beach institutions. And, chances are you know them well. But, others might not be as familiar. We count ourselves lucky to have adventurous friends willing to try just about anything. Therefore, I feel like in the 17 years since we began our annual trips, we tried a bunch of places. So, here are the Myrtle Beach, South Carolina restaurants we consider our must visit spots every time we’re at the beach.
