Every year Yelp puts together a list of the top 100 places to eat across the country. And, with the help of online reviews and mentions of restaurants through crowd sourcing, they publish the winners along with what ‘Yelpers’ say makes them the best. And, taking a look back at the list from 2023, one particular North Carolina pub made Yelp’s top 100 places to eat.
So, which North Carolina pub made Yelp’s top 100 places to eat in 2023? It’s Freeman’s Grub & Pub in Greensboro, North Carolina. Yelp refers to it as an unassuming gastropub near University of North Carolina Greensboro. And, Yelpers love everything at Freeman’s from the chicken wings with blackberry barbecue sauce to banh mi sandwiches. However, one special dish customers rave about is the Brussels sprouts. They refer to them as the “best Brussels sprouts” in the area.
And, another dish that customers requested to stay on the menu after the pub changed hands a couple of years ago is the poutine. Apparently, diners love the favorite, made with brisket gravy and cheese curds over fries. In looking at the menu, Freeman’s features a pretty extensive line up. And, it all sounds fabulous and extremely comforting and stick to your ribs!
Plus, the desserts sound like they’re straight out of the state fair. I’m intrigued by the ‘fried pumpkin pie cheesecake’ and the Butterfinger pie. And, if you’re in the mood for cocktails, Freeman’s Grub & Pub definitely fits the bill in that department. Therefore, it’s no surprise this North Carolina pub made Yelp’s top 100 places to eat in 2023. In fact, it came in at number 75. So, stop in at 1820 Spring Garden Street in Greensboro next time you visit the area.

The Best Restaurants In Each City & Town In North Carolina
The best restaurant is a bold claim to make. Obviously, I have not eaten at every restaurant in every North Carolina city and town. So I dug through Yelp reviews to help me out. Because you deserve to know what the best is, whether it’s your city, a nearby place, or somewhere you’re planning a trip. Many of the restaurants included on this list are hidden gems you may not have even heard of. Others are staples that everyone knows! There are 50 cities and towns included on this list and these are the 50 cities and towns in the state according to Wikipedia. You’ll find them listed from smallest to largest along with the best restaurants in that North Carolina city or town.
As for the restaurants, I consulted Yelp for each city and town included on this list. Reviews were sorted by the highest rated and the restaurant had to have an address in that specific city. Food trucks were omitted as well as a few coffee shops that didn’t offer food other than a couple of pastries. Not all the places included have sit-down meals but you can get a full meal at all of them. You’ll find a wide variety of restaurants including bbq, southern homestyle, Italian, and even Portuguese. Hopefully, this inspires you to check out a new place this weekend.
