In Case You Didn’t Know Any Other Ways To Say I Love You
Saying I love you is important, yet, we sometimes treat it as a throwaway phrase. We were doing some work on a project for our radio job. And, we came across a song from a few years ago from one of our favorite writers. It was a different way of expressing the phrase. And, it got me to thinking about how important it is to freshen up your ‘I love yous.’
Don’t Let I Love You Become A Throwaway
It happens to all of us in any of our relationships. Saying I love you becomes a bit of a throwaway phrase much like ‘have a nice day.’ And, over time it comes to lose its meaning. But, there are ways you can freshen it up and punch up the impact it has just by changing how we express the same sentiment.
The song I was referring to in the opening paragraph is “In Case You Didn’t Know.” And, the writer says it was something his mother always used to say to him especially as he was leaving. In case you didn’t know…I love you. Or, in the case of the song to a relationship partner…in case you didn’t know, I’m crazy ’bout you.
How To Say I Love You Without Saying I Love You
An article in psychology today speaks about how different groups all over the world say I love you without actually saying those words. Now, some of them would sound really off to us. And, your partner might worry about you if you busted out with these phrases because they are so unique to other corners of the world. However, I noticed a few that really resonated.
For example in Tamil, ‘You are the rain that makes my heart bloom.’ Ok, you aren’t going to go around saying that. But, it might make for a nice poetic sentiment in a card. I really like the one the article mentions in Portuguese…’being with you is my favorite place in the world.’ Or, in Japanese, ‘you are my sun and my moon.’
You get the idea. Just come up with more creative ways to say I love you so it doesn’t become a throwaway. However, some of the ones I’ll avoid include, in Swedish, ‘You are my snuggle wolf.’ Or, in Korean, ‘You are the rice I eat every day.’ But, adapt it to something important to you similar to the line from Steel Magnolias…’You know I love you more than my luggage.’
