North Carolina Boy Attacked By Pack Of Dogs Faces Multiple Surgeries
I am one of the biggest dog lovers you’ll ever meet. So, it saddens me to read stories like this. But, occasionally, dog attacks do happen. And, this was the case recently as a North Carolina boy was attacked by a pack of dogs. According to WLOS, the 12 year old was on a bike riding to a friend’s house when the dog attack occurred in Rutherford County, North Carolina.
The 12 year old North Carolina boy attacked remains hospitalized and faces a fourth surgery after being airlifted to Greenville Memorial Hospital. The boy’s mother indicates she is unsure when he can return to school. Hunter Bishop’s mother found him in a ditch with 10 dogs around him. And, according to her, the dogs “looked like they were starving.” Several of the dogs are in quarantine for the time being.
If you do find yourself in the unfortunate situation of being approached or attacked by an aggressive dog, there are a few things to keep in mind. According to an article from WBUR, don’t scream and instead remain calm. I know that’s easier said than done. They suggest calling to the owner if available. Don’t make eye contact. But, do try to put something between you and the dog. A few items you may have include an umbrella if walking on a rainy day. Or, maybe there’s a car or trash bin nearby as an object to obscure the dog’s view. See the full article for a complete list of do’s and don’t’s to avoid or escape a dog attack.
However, sometimes an incident is unavoidable and does happen like it did for this North Carolina boy. We continue to keep Hunter in our thoughts as the North Carolina dog attack victim endures another surgery. And, we wish him all the best.
