Ever since we lost our beloved cockapoo, "Frisky" last year, everyone in our family has become obsessed with dog videos on social media. I am truly amazed at some of the talents that people's pooches put on display. Two nights ago, my son asked, "What do you think our dog was best at?" My response? "No question he was the best quality control tester of blankets and pillows that the canine world has ever seen."
Seriously, outside of playing fetch, "Frisky" wasn't big on "tricks." He most certainly didn't have any that involved water. He wasn't even all that thrilled with baths at the groomer. Which makes the story of "Moose" all the more amazing to me. After all, this adopted Australian shepherd and pit bull mix from the Wake County Animal Center has become a champion diver.
Emily Parker has been a kennel attendant at the center since last November. In December, on her 21st birthday, she came into contact with "Moose." It was love at first sight. Before long, she adopted Moose and welcomed him into her home.
While introducing Moose to the water in May, Emily discovered a hidden talent of her dog, dock diving. According to CBS 17, dock diving is considered a sport among canines and includes competitions for the highest or farthest jumps into a pool.
Moose recently competed in his first contest. With jumps of 9 feet 4 inches and 9 feet 11 inches, Moose found himself qualifying for a spot in the finals of the novice division. How great is this?!
